HomeServicesDifficult Access Solutions

Difficult Access Solutions for Buildings & Infrastructure

Some maintenance, inspection and repair projects simply cannot be completed safely or economically using traditional access methods. We develop practical access solutions for high-rise facades, confined rooftops, bridges, industrial structures, atriums and architecturally complex buildings. Our objective is not to sell rope access, it is to recommend the safest, fastest and most cost-effective way to complete your project.

Not every project needs rope access

Many contractors only offer one form of access, so every project is made to fit that solution. We take a different approach. Before recommending an access method, we assess the building design and facade geometry, height and reach requirements, ground conditions and available setup areas, public interface and pedestrian management, quality requirements, programme and budget, and the safety risks and compliance obligations. Only then do we recommend the most appropriate solution, whether that is rope access or another method entirely.

Access methods we provide

Access methods we provide

  • Rope access. High-rise inspections, maintenance and repairs where speed, flexibility and minimal disruption are critical.
  • Elevated work platforms. Boom lifts, scissor lifts and truck-mounted platforms for projects with suitable ground access.
  • Building maintenance units (BMUs). Using existing facade access systems on commercial towers for glazing and maintenance.
  • Swing stages. Continuous work faces for large remedial and facade restoration projects.
  • Scaffolding. Where multiple trades or long-duration projects need permanent working platforms.
  • Platform ladders. Safe low-level access for inspections, repairs and maintenance.
  • Extension pole systems. Efficient for selected low-rise cleaning and inspection tasks.
  • Drone technology. Used where appropriate for inspections, surveys and complementary cleaning.
The best solution often combines multiple methods

The best solution often combines multiple methods

Many complex projects benefit from combining different access systems. For example, rope access for upper facades, boom lifts around podiums, drones for roof inspections, scaffolding for remediation and BMUs for glazing replacement. Selecting the right combination often reduces project costs, shortens programmes and improves safety.

We commonly assist with facade inspections, water leak investigations, concrete repairs, waterproofing, glazing replacement, height safety installations, pressure cleaning, painting, industrial maintenance and bridge inspections, across hospitals, universities, commercial buildings and residential towers.

Access planning, method selection and why clients choose us

One of the most valuable services we provide happens before any work begins. Our team develops an access strategy that considers safety, productivity, cost, equipment, permits and disruption. By selecting the right access method from the outset, clients avoid unnecessary equipment hire, delays and redesigns.

Clients choose Rope Access Technicians for independent access recommendations based on the project rather than the equipment, multiple access methods under one contractor, reduced disruption to occupants and the public, fast mobilisation across South East Queensland and beyond, experienced technicians delivering inspection, maintenance and remedial services, and solutions focused on safety, efficiency and long-term value. Unsure how your building can be accessed safely? We will assess your project and recommend the safest, most cost-effective solution, whether that is rope access, an EWP, scaffolding, a BMU or a combination of methods. Where the work also needs lifting or standby cover, we can add rigging and hauling and standby rescue.
