The manager called us about several vertical fins that had rusted, with loose fixings into the building. We mobilised quickly.
On site we realised the fins were filling with water, making them far heavier than they should have been and worsening the fixing problem. We drilled them to release the water, tied them off and used an electric rope winch to take most of the load, then released the fixings and lowered each fin to the ground. A three-person crew made it quick and efficient, and we patched the fixing points to limit any further water getting into the building.
